Lighting strike kills teen swimmer on family holiday A 15-year-old girl died Saturday after she was struck by lightning while swimming in the US, according to the Tybee Island Police Department.
Police say they got a 911 call around 2:37 pm about a female who possibly had been struck off the coast of Georgia.
Firefighters and lifeguards performed CPR on the girl. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

She had been visiting with her family from Alabama.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The icon stone bridge that welcomes visitors to Montgomery’s Blount Cultural Park is being closed for repair work, according to the City of Montgomery.
The bridge, located on Festival Drive, closed to motorists on Tuesday and will remain inaccessible for up to three months.
The repair work is part of routine maintenance, the city said, to insure safety for those who walk or drive over it.
