Hospital services across the West and North West will face ongoing service disruptions into next week as a result of the ransomware attack on the HSE IT systems. Work is ongoing to get priority systems back including radiology, diagnostic and patient information systems which are essential for the delivery of safe care.

Continuing his legacy, eight years after his death from cancer, The James Gill memorial Trust committee were delighted to be able to donate a cheque of €30.000 to support the renovation of the Oncology Day Ward in Tallaght University Hospital.
Speaking at the event, Geraldine Gill, James’ mother said; “Our hearts are broken. On this day, 8 years ago we said goodbye to James. It is a fitting tribute to be here today and open the new oncology ward on his anniversary.

Statement from Saolta: The ransomware attack on the HSE IT systems is having an ongoing impact on services at University Hospital Galway.
The patient records system is not currently accessible which means that clinical staff are unable to contact patients to arrange their appointments.
Most hospital services have been cancelled as a result however there are some time-dependent treatments which need to continue.
Patients who are due to attend the
Haematology/Oncology Day Ward for chemotherapy treatment at University Hospital Galway are asked to telephone 091 544890 or 087 9200753 between 9am and 5pm for advice on their appointment. The hospital is trying to accommodate day case chemotherapy where possible.
