Sentence delayed as judge demands further checks on paedophile s computer

By Advertiser Reporter Swindon Crown Court A JUDGE asked for more work to be done after it emerged that the police had only categorised around a thousand images out of around half a million found on a paedophile’s computers. Stephen Soar, 52, had expected to be sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on Friday after he admitted possession of more than 1,350 child sex abuse images – with the majority, 1,321, in the lowest category. But Judge Peter Crabtree adjourned the case until July after telling the court that hundreds of thousands of files on the Swindon defendant’s computer had not been examined by police expert.

Driver Struggling with Navigation App Arrested on Public Self-Stimulation Claims

Driver Struggling with Navigation App Arrested on Public Self-Stimulation Claims 23 May 2021, 8:40 UTC · by 1 photo This is what happened to 46-year-old Calum Ogilvy from Swindon, UK who got arrested after someone called the cops because they believed the man was just having a good time all by himself in his car. In fact, Ogilvy said, it was only the sat nav in his car the one that was going wild, as a loose wire broke down the connection and caused the system to malfunction. Ogilvy was sitting alone in his car near Lydiard Park trying to fix the navigation, when a female university student parked close to him and noticed something unusual.

Drug dealer claims he acted under duress

By Advertiser Reporter Kaseem Smiri s 2016 custody shot Picture: WILTSHIRE POLICE A “THIRD strike” drug dealer claimed he had been acting under duress – and had even been attacked with a hammer. Kaseem Smiri, 28, has already admitted possession with intent to supply cocaine in Southwick. Two previous convictions for drug dealing mean he now faces a seven year minimum sentence. On Friday, Judge Peter Crabtree set the case down for a special court hearing – called a Newton Hearing – where the basis upon which Smiri will be sentenced will be decided. It followed claims by lawyers acting for the Trowbridge man that he had been acting under duress.
