Prime Minister Scott Morrison suggests 70% of Australians need vaccine for Covid lockdowns to end

Scott Morrison has suggested the percentage of Australians who need to be vaccinated to end coronavirus lockdowns is 65 to 70 per cent.  In a radio interview on Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister said the stunted jab rollout - which has only vaccinated 14.09 per cent of over 16s - was not to blame for 14 million people being told to stay at home in Victoria, South Australia and Greater Sydney due to outbreaks of the highly-contagious Delta variant. He said the country would always have needed harsh restrictions this winter because even if the rollout went perfectly not enough people would be jabbed.

Claims Victoria s Covid-19 lockdown is sheer madness, politically motivated

Victoria s fifth Covid-19 lockdown is sheer madness, politically motivated and causing more deaths than the virus , former Liberal premier Jeff Kennett has claimed. In a column for the Herald Sun, Mr Kennett said the latest lockdown was absolutely unnecessary but imposed to boost Premier Daniel Andrews popularity. He accused the government of being too scared to manage the virus with contact tracing and instead taking the easy option to lock the state down.  Victoria s fifth Covid-19 lockdown is sheer madness , former Liberal premier Jeff Kennett has claimed.
