HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) BJ s Restaurants Inc. (BJRI) on Thursday reported a loss of $3.1 million in its first quarter.
The Huntington Beach, California-based company said it had a loss of 14 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 67 cents per share.
The restaurant chain posted revenue of $223.3 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $205 million.
BJ s Restaurants shares have risen 59% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $61.27, more than tripling in the last 12 months.
