An Arizona police officer and his wife have officially adopted a little girl after the officer helped her to get away from abuse.
Kingman Police Department lieutenant Brian Zach was a patrol sergeant in March of 2018 when he was called to little Kaila’s home who at the time had suffered abuse and multiple injuries at the hands of her caretakers.
Brian comforted Kaila while they waited for detectives to come to take her to the hospital. “We colored, we snacked … she held my hand and she was just this cute little thing,” Zach told Good Morning America. “Once detectives came, they picked her up and took her to the hospital.”

“This weight was lifted because I knew that I didn’t have to worry about who was going to be taking care of her and who was going to be loving her, Lt. Brian Zach told Inside Edition.
Arizona cop Brian Zach will never forget the day two years ago he met little Kaila while responding to a call about alleged child abuse – so much so that the little girl officially became part of his family earlier this year.
“It was very surreal, very exciting,” Zach told Inside Edition. “This weight was lifted because I knew that I didn’t have to worry about who was going to be taking care of her and who was going to be loving her.”
