ROTARY club members have donated the funds required to replace a swing which was destroyed in an arson attack. Members of Brit Valley Rotary Club presented a cheque to Bridport Town Council to replace a swing which was destroyed after being set alight at the West Bay Play Area. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning of Monday, May 31 at the West Play Area. A fire crew from Bridport Fire Station was called out at 3am on the day to the small fire at the play area. Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station called the incident a malicious act .

THE BRIDPORT Hat Festival will be returning this autumn. The Bridport Hat Festival has been given the green light and will return to the town on Saturday, September 4. The wacky and wonderful celebration of hats was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic and organisers were unsure whether they would be able to bring the event back this year. However, it has been confirmed that the event will take place in September and organisers cannot wait to see the wonderful creations people have to offer. The event will be scaled back this year and will be take place wholly on the Millennium Green. South Street will not be closed as in previous years. Music, a licensed bar and catering provided by Brit Valley Rotary Club will all take place on the Millennium Green.
AS SCHOOLCHILDREN return to learning from home as a result of the pandemic, rotary clubs are appealing for the donation of laptops and tablets to assist pupils with their learning. Bridport Rotary Club and Brit Valley Rotary Club have issued an appeal to members of public to donate any surplus laptops and tablets to pupils who do not have adequate equipment to learn from home. The equipment will be distributed to pupils at local schools who do not have the necessary equipment. The rotary clubs have asked that laptops are be no more than five years old and must be reset to their factory settings, whilst any tablets and iPads should be less than three years old.
