Roads outside Bicester schools close to cars in new scheme

Resurfacing: Sections of Wood Farm Road in Oxford have been closed since Sunday due to resurfacing works. The roadworks are expected to take two weeks to be completed, between 7.30am and 4.30pm on weekdays. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Bridge replacement: A bridge over a brook is being replaced, meaning it will be closed until the middle of June. Work on the bridge over Broadwell Brook in Alvescot is set to be completed by June 18.

Congratulations are in order as James “Jim” and Jean Anderson of Bradwell Road reach an incredible milestone – 60 years of marriage! The Loughton and Buckhurst Hill native couple celebrated their diamond anniversary on March 4, marking 60 years since they tied the knot. After meeting through a shared group of friends, the couple began courting when Mr Anderson was 17 and Mrs Anderson was 16. They married two years later St John’s Church in Buckhurst Hill. James Jim and Jane on their wedding day 60 years ago. When asked their secret to such a long-lasting marriage, retired milkman and pastry chef Mr Anderson quipped: “Luck”.
