Owners of some seasonal eateries said they're making adjustments to make the most of the moment as the state loosens pandemic restrictions for businesses and more people flock to outdoor and indoor locations.
Jasper County buildings, offices begin to reopen

After close to a year of being closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jasper County government buildings are beginning to reopen, officials said.
Jasper County has reopened its community centers, which became available for public rental and use May 3, a news release said.
Johnny Davis, director of parks and recreation, said county athletics and arts programs are scheduled to resume in May with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention safety guidelines in place. Davis said a girls volleyball program is scheduled to start in June.
“We’ve had a lot of community interest in renting and using our community centers and parks and we have kept them closed for public health and safety until now,” Davis said.
When Kevin Wright took the helm late last year as the new executive director of the Atwood Museum in Chatham, he and others at the historical museum were beginning to look toward a more hopeful 2021 season, following a year of pandemic restrictions and disrupted activities.
That season that opens Friday, Wright says, hopes to build on several of last year’s exhibits that received limited exposure due to COVID closures. Visitors will be able to learn more about World War II in Chatham, the town’s role in the Pilgrim landing to mark that 400th anniversary, and main streets around Cape Cod in the 20th century.

Sitting in the quiet, spacious old barn at Meetinghouse Farm, looking out at grassy slopes, garden sunshine and a greenhouse filled with growing plants, it’s easy to forget we’ve just been through a year of dislocation and uncertainty.
This feeling of being in another, more pleasant universe persists during a relaxed conversation with Judy Desrochers, president of Meetinghouse Farm, as various and sundry volunteers and gardeners stop in to say “hello” on the way to their work destinations on this lovely spring day.
Programs and activities at the farm are once again resuming after the “time-out” of a pandemic year, with the farm’s big fundraiser plant sale scheduled for May 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Desrochers called the event a “Garden Potpourri,” because of the variety of items that will be available that day.
