Introduced in 1966 for the 1967 model year, the first generation of the Camaro is up there with the best ponies in the pantheon of American muscle. The 396 engine with 375 horsepower and the 302 engine with approximately 400 horsepower are highly collectible in this day and age, but not everyone likes the Camaro stock. 43 photos
Take, for instance, this pro-touring build from Roadster Shop. Instead of a good ol’ Chevy motor, this one-off restomod rocks a boat engine from Mercury Racing. Codenamed SB4, the dual-overhead powerplant revs to 8,000 rpm, features a compression ratio of 11.7 to 1, and flexes 750 hp.
Mercury Racingâs Scott Reichow Retires
Author:
Mercury Racing propeller manager Scott Reichow retired at the end of January, the company
announced in a statement. Reichow began his career with the company in 1977. At Mercury Racing, he spent years under the tutelage of Ron Steiner.
Reichow (second from left) was a service specialist at Mercury in 1979.
“Scott has been the guy boatbuilders, Mercury Racing dealers and our customers have turned to for advice and propeller product knowledge,” said Steve Miller, Mercury Racing director of marketing, sales and service. “At boat shows, poker runs, dealer meetings, fishing tournaments and races, people were always looking for Scott, and he could speak with passion and intelligence about propeller performance with anyone, from offshore racers to walleye anglers.”

SEMA 2019 was filled with interesting cars. There was the Supra, of course, the Ringbrothers Valkyrja, but also this interpretation of the 1969 Camaro. It s called Grimm 7.0 and was built by Jesus Lopez of Gabe’s Street Rod Custom Interiors. 15 photos
It s fair to say that this is a Camaro unlike any other, looking classy and high-tech in equal measure. The muscle car can loosely be defined by its Speedkore carbon fiber, holden wheels, and impeccable interior.
Want to know more? Luckily,
AutotopiaLA covered this car back in 2019 and came back for an in-depth look and test drive. This full restomod reportedly cost more than $500,000 to make. It sits on a Roadster Shop custom chassis that came with a Ford 9-inch rear end, which is needed to cope with a savage 750 horsepower engine.
In July 2018, Steve and Kelly Marino of Auburn, Ala., took delivery of an elegant DCB M35 Widebody catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines. It was their second creation from the El Cajon, Calif., company the first being an M28R cat powered by Mercury Racing 400R outboards.
Currently for sale, Steve and Kelly Marino’s DCB M35R (above) will be replaced by a DCB M37R catamaran and a Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
Now the 35-footer, dubbed
Twin Ladies for their twin six-year-old daughters, is for sale. But that doesn’t mean the Marino family is out of the DCB family. They have an M37R Widebody cat with Mercury Racing 450R outboards in the works. That build hull No. 10 for the 37-foot full-tunnel model should be finished in December.
During the past few years, Bill Day, the owner of Day’s Boat Sales in Frankfort, Ky., has gotten a good taste of the performance boat market. Not only has he made a splash amongst the boating community that enjoys the surrounding lakes and rivers, including the popular Lake Cumberland, he’s become a loyal and grateful affiliate of the Florida Powerboat Club.

In fact, Day, who recently took delivery of the latest Fountain Powerboats 39 NX performance center console in Miami so he could demo the 39-footer powered by triple Mercury Racing450R engines out of Haulover Marine Center and show it off at FPC events throughout the winter and spring, stepped up to sponsor next week’s Winter Poker Run (Jan. 22-24) to Faro Blanco Resort & Marina in Marathon, Fla.
