The direction for crude oil prices this week will be determined by the impact that the harsh winter weather had on the U.S. energy sector, but keep an ear on the OPEC chatter, analysts said.
A bout of freezing rain was followed by sub-freezing temperatures across the U.S. Gulf Coast last week, shuttering four of the largest refineries in Texas. In total, more than 20 oil refineries across the south were affected, while frozen well heads and pumps temporarily shut in as much as 40 percent of total U.S. crude oil production.
