As of Wednesday afternoon, the Christian County Health Department had administered COVID-19 vaccinations to approximately 1,500 Kentuckians, according to department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney.
County Health Director Kayla Bebout said that 600 more appointments were scheduled for Thursday at the James E. Bruce Convention Center, where the department began operating one of Kentucky’s 33 regional vaccine clinics on Tuesday.

Eight time defending 2nd region All A champion University Heights Academy saw its reign end as Lyon County downed the Blazers 79-77 last night.Nick Whalin hit the game winning shot for the Lyons with 2.8 seconds left in the game. Lyon County had a seven point lead going into the 4th quarter 65-58 before the Blazers made a run that came up short. Jackson Shoulders led the Lyons with 28 points with Ryan Perry adding 27 as they improved to 4-0.
University Heights had four players in double figures led by DJ Quarles with 18 points, William Bryan and KJ Crump each added 17 and Amani McGee added 15 in falling to 1-3.
One of the four people involved in a 2019 carjacking at the Hopkinsville Wal-Mart that led to a police chase and the shooting of a Hopkinsville police officer has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison.
Keith Kuzyk of Clarksville was given the sentence Friday by Senior District Court Judge Thomas B. Russell. There will be three years of supervised release following the sentence.
U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman said “this lawlessness will not be tolerated in the Western District of Kentucky.” He added that anyone who puts families and law enforcement at risk through armed carjacking and shooting at a police officer should be prepared to face decades in prison.
