MARTIN, Tenn. University of Tennessee at Martin students majoring in accounting and finance have received a big contribution to their education.
A news release from the university says James D. “Jim” and Barbara Wingett provided a $1 million pledge to the James Duncan Wingett Scholarship Endowment.
The Wingetts say the university is a special place to them. The release says the couple met there in the 1980s.
“UTM holds a special place in my heart having met the love of my life there,” he said. “Barbara and I have been blessed, and we are excited to make this commitment to the university that means so much to us. Our sincere hope is that the students that receive these scholarship funds will enjoy and benefit from their UTM experience as much as we did and ultimately pay it forward to the next generation of UTM students.”

A lead forecaster with the National Weather Service of Paducah said a major winter weather storm could dump up to a foot of snow across multiple states through Monday night making travel “treacherous” to nearly impossible.
National Weather Service Lead Forecaster Chris Noles in a virtual call Sunday said the region should see 1-3 inches of snowfall Sunday night, with snowfall of increasing intensity starting late Monday morning that could reach a rate of an inch per hour. Noles said the storm could dump at least six inches of snow and up to a foot in some parts of the region through Monday night, with drier and unusually cold conditions compounding visibility issues.

University offices will also be closed at all locations.
Online and web conference classes will meet as scheduled.
Bethel University will be closed for normal operations both Monday (2/15) and Tuesday (2/16).
Classes will still meet remotely.
The University of Memphis Lambuth campus will be closed Mon., Feb. 15.
Remote work and classes will continue as scheduled.
The University of Tennessee at Martin main campus and five regional centers will have virtual classes from February 15th to the 19th.
All campuses of Jackson State community college will be closed Monday, and all classes are canceled.
Young Touchstone in Jackson and Lexington is closed on Monday (2/15).
