Channel 4’s four decades as a publicly owned broadcaster could be about to come to an end, with ministers pushing ahead with controversial plans to sell the channel as part of a shake-up that could transform the landscape of British television.
The culture secretary, Oliver Dowden, confirmed that he would hold a swift consultation on proposed privatisation, in a move that would mark the end of an era in British broadcasting and would radically alter how one of the UK’s leading public service television networks operates.

MILPITAS, CA A LEGOLAND Discovery Center is opening in the Bay Area Monday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Great Mall in Milpitas. The new Discovery Center, the first location built in California, is geared towards children ages 3-10, with a series of educational and interactive attractions for families to play with. In the 31,000-square-foot space, attendees can explore a 1.5 million-brick replica of the Bay Area, take an interactive train ride on the Imagination Express, watch 4D LEGO shorts and learn to build in master classes.
