The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees called for a $52.5 million bond election for May 1. The bond package is split into four propositions.
The unanimous decision came during a board meeting Monday, Feb. 8. The board had initially called for a bond package in 2020, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Burnet High School celebrated four of its senior student-athletes Wednesday, Feb. 3, as they signed their National Letters of Intent to play college sports.
The four are football player Braedan Howell, Sam Houston State University in Huntsville; football player Jaxson Denton, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton; soccer player Phebe Musasa, Schreiner University in Kerrville; and swimmer Maczimus Griego, Alfred State College of Technology in New York state.

You might not expect to find street tacos in a high school cafeteria, but it’s a favorite menu item for Burnet students.
“The kids love this one,” said cafeteria manager Joann Chapa.
But the General Tso’s chicken might beat it for top choice, she added.

The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District is closer to possibly calling a bond election for the May 1 ballot.
During the board meeting Jan. 18, administrators gave a report to trustees on projects for the bond. District leaders are still finalizing cost estimates with contractors and will have those available during the Feb. 8 board meeting, which is also when trustees could approve putting the bond on the ballot.
