Raiders first-round OT Alex Leatherwood not worried about media garbage, out to prove Raiders right

Copied! Once again, the Las Vegas Raiders stunned the Draft Industrial Complex, selecting Alabama offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood No. 17 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Most media scouts didn t rank the OT anywhere near a first-round prospect. It was just the latest example of general manager Mike Mayock, coach Jon Gruden and the rest of the Raiders scouting staff rejecting the consensus outside their building. He was the highest-rated player on our board at that time, offense or defense, Mayock said Thursday night, via the team s official website. At 6-foot-5, 312 pounds with athleticism, Leatherwood was a three-year starter at Alabama at both guard and left tackle, where he spent the past two seasons.

Mayock and the Raiders got their guy: He s going to start at right tackle

Copied! No matter whom you talk to in the Raiders organization, it sounds like the team was always going to pick Alex Leatherwood No. 17 overall, regardless of mock drafts or what any draft expert said. For months, General Manager Mike Mayock, Head Coach Jon Gruden, and the rest of the scouting department scoured through hours of tape, and what they saw was a starting right tackle from Day One. He can play inside and outside, but he s going to start for us at right tackle Day One, Mayock told reporters following the first round, and we re going to see if he can hold on to that job.

Coach Tom Cable remains the steady force of the reloaded offensive line

Coach Tom Cable remains the steady force of the reloaded offensive line Apr 19, 2021 at 11:42 AM Copied! The Raiders offensive line was a huge plug-and-play situation for the Raiders last season, and the line will see even more change this upcoming 2021 NFL season with some familiar starters being traded to make way for young talent coming up behind them. Despite whatever changes are to come for the Silver and Black s offensive line, Coach Tom Cable has proven that he can take command of the unit and lead them. Cable has become a consistent presence in the Raiders coaching staff since returning to the team in 2018 under Head Coach Jon Gruden, and his ability to get the best out of his offensive linemen was a big reason Gruden and the Silver and Black wanted Cable back.

InterMat Wrestling - Reflections on a wild, wacky 2020

Reflections on a wild, wacky 2020 Craig Sesker, InterMat Senior Writer 12/24/2020 2020 was a year like no other. And the wrestling community certainly felt the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with the cancellation of the NCAA Championships and the postponement of the Olympic Games. High school wrestling is back in full swing, the college season is about to start and big international events are set to start happening in early 2021 leading into the Tokyo Olympics. Here are my thoughts and reflections with the holidays just around the corner: Jordan Burroughs is 32 years old, but the four-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist is still really good. He likely will have to beat two-time world champion Kyle Dake to make his third straight Olympic team, but Burroughs is still wrestling at an extremely high level. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
