ROCKLAND On Monday, July 12, the Farnsworth Art Museum celebrates Wyeth Day with a special virtual presentation on Zoom. The program will feature a conversation between artist Jamie Wyeth and Farnsworth Chief Curator Michael K. Komanecky focused on the recent gift by Betsy Wyeth to the museum of 27 works by three generations of Wyeths. The program will take place beginning at 5 p.m., and is sponsored by The Cornelia Cogswell Rossi Foundation.

It was no secret that Robert Indiana harbored jealousies toward the Wyeth family. He minded his manners in public, but did not hesitate to privately express his belief that curators and writers in Maine paid too much attention to the Wyeths and too little attention to him.

.-The Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine, announced the receipt of major gifts of art from the bequest of Betsy James Wyeth. All twenty-seven new acquisitions by the three generations of Wyeth painters, N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth, will be on view, beginning Saturday, May 15, as part of a landmark new exhibition entitled Betsys Gift: The Works of N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth. The exhibition will be accompanied by a complementary exhibition of works by Andrew Wyeth, Betsy Wyeth: Partner and Muse, which features five Wyeth works that have never been exhibited in public. Betsy James Wyeth passed away last spring, at the age of ninety-eight.
