Flagship CPEC power transmission line shelved till Sept Business April 2, 2021 LAHORE: The launching of flagship China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 4,000mw South-North transmission line project has been delayed to September 2021, making grid stability and power affordability another pipe dream for now, The News has learnt. The delay has been attributed to outstanding work, pending on the part of both state-owned transmission company and the contractor. According to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) and the Chinese company, Pak Matiari-Lahore Transmission Company Pvt Ltd (PMLTC), it is clearly mentioned in the clause 6 that: Both Parties shall complete their outstanding works at the earliest to guarantee that the extended COD (commercial operation date) will be realised not later than 01.09.2021 .

LAHORE: The commercial operation of the 660kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) Matiari-Lahore Transmission Line project is likely to face a delay of at least three months due to various administrative and technical issues, allegedly on the part of the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) and Pak Matiari-Lahore Transmission Company (Pvt) Ltd (PMLTCPL). However, it seems that the issues have been resolved amicably both by the NTDC and the company with certain new terms and conditions, Dawn learnt on Friday. However, the new commercial operation date (COD), which was earlier set as March 1, 2021, is yet to be decided and may take at least another three months.

According to a report by The News International, the Chinese company PMLTC, which completed +-660kV Matiari-Lahore HVDC Transmission Project with the investment of USD 2.2 billion in two years time, has threatened to move the international arbitration court against the NTDC for creating hurdles in the commissioning of the project.

Top Story February 10, 2021 ISLAMABAD: In the latest development, Chinese company Pak Matiari- Lahore Transmission Company (PMLTC), which completed ±660kV Matiari-Lahore HVDC Transmission Project with investment of $2.2 billion in two years time, has threatened to move the international arbitration court against the government-owned company National Transmission Dispatch Company (NTDC) for creating hurdles in the commissioning of the project. The Chinese company has asked the board of directors of NTDC to hold a meeting and give it an opportunity for briefing on the causes of oscillation that happened on December 2, 2020 during the commissioning of the system. The project is the major flagship project of CPEC scheduled to achieve commercial operations date (COD) on 1st of March 2021. However, due to the deadlock, the commercial operation date of the project is in jeopardy.
