KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has appointed several prominent lawyers in its efforts to ensure the party is registered by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
They include former attorney-general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas and former Malaysian Bar president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan.
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Law Society is drafting simplified legal mediation guides for the public on contractual disputes involving sums below RM300,000 based on the Temporary Measures for Reducing the Impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Act 2020 that was passed by the Dewan Rakyat this week.
The Sabah Act provides for free mediation services to be dispensed to the public through the Pusat Mediasi Covid-19 (PMC-19), undertaken by the Sabah Law Society (SLS) here, its president Roger Chin said.
He said the Federal Government has provided a “substantial” grant to SLS to carry out such mediation for free, but the public was not fully aware of the services available as some terms might be steeped in too much legal jargon.
