Court of Appeal to assess Bournemouth sex assault jail sentence

Darren Shaw was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court THE prison sentence issued to a man who sexually assaulted a woman in her own home has been referred to the Court of Appeal. Darren Martyn Shaw, 35, was jailed for two years at Bournemouth Crown Court after he admitted an offence of assaulting a woman by penetration with his finger. As reported, a request was made to the Attorney General s Office to look into the case and see if the sentence was unduly lenient . It has now been confirmed to the Daily Echo that Solicitor General Lucy Frazer QC MP has referred the case and the prison term could be extended.

Stanislaw Lenartowicz downloaded the indecent images from online platform Chatstep A MAN who was caught with a haul of indecent images of children and extreme pornography has avoided a custodial sentence. Over a 10-year period Stanislaw Lenartowicz downloaded hundreds of child abuse images and videos but he told officers he gained no sexual gratification from children . Police were alerted to the 65-year-old after intelligence suggested a computer was accessing an online chat site, which was believed was being used to access child pornography. Officers searched two properties linked to the defendant in 2017. Devices were seized and material was found following a considerable period of time to go through the equipment.

Sexual assault case in unduly lenient sentence scheme review

The woman woke at around 7am to find the defendant sexually assaulting her. She woke her boyfriend and told him what had happened. Police were called and officers attended the address, where Shaw was arrested. Detective Constable Michael White, of Bournemouth CID, described the incident as a “horrifying ordeal” for the victim. During the sentencing hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court on March 22, prosecutor Sukwinder Dhadda read a statement from the woman, which said Shaw told her the assault “was all in your head”. Representing Shaw, Tim Bradbury asked Judge Stephen Climie to issue a suspended sentence, saying the defendant was very remorseful for his actions.
