Northumberland s first-ever mass vaccination centre to open in Hexham on May 13

The centre will open its doors on Thursday, April 13 in Hexham. Hexham Mart Vaccination Centre is the seventh large vaccination site in the region and the site will have the capacity to see up to 800 people per day, vaccine supply permitting. The decision to open a large new vaccination centre in Hexham was made in conjunction with local NHS partners so that the West Northumberland Primary Care Network, which has so far delivered 60,000 vaccinations, can return to providing core GP services. The centres, of which there are already six in the region, work with local vaccination services run by groups of GPs working together in Primary Care Networks and services offered by community pharmacies.

Now Lancashire County Council has closed the Philips Lane in both directions. Pendle Council has contacted nearby residents to alert them to the potential danger from the crack and bulging wall. Philips Lane will remain closed until investigations are completed and a structural repair scheme has been prepared and undertaken at 120 Burnley Road.

Pendle: Campaigners raise suspicions over council s refusal to survey Gib Hill land

RESIDENTS and conservation campaigners have raised questions about why their local council has decided to prevent a free ecological study of nearby green lung land. Gib Hill, located between Nelson and Colne, was designated for housing by Pendle Borough Council in 2005 and has been targeted by developers in the years since, while local campaigners hope instead to ecologically protect and enhance the area and keep it for community use. To do so, the Lancashire Wildlife Trust offered to carry out a comprehensive wildlife survey of the area to assess its ecological value, however their suspicions were raised when Pendle Borough Council turned down this offer.
