The Sustainability Pitch is a groundbreaking new programme from TRBusiness that recognises and rewards stakeholders across the travel retail supply chain.
More than 20 senior travel retail and sustainability executives from across the global travel sector have confirmed their participation as judges in TRBusiness’ ‘The Sustainability Pitch’.
As announced, the pioneering industry-wide recognition programme will showcase and celebrate sustainable initiatives across the travel and travel retail sector.
The Sustainability Pitch will play a central role in the first-ever
Travel Retail Sustainability Week, due to take place on 19-23 April 2021, to coincide with Earth Day on Thursday 22 April.
The programme is a response to the growing importance placed on environmental considerations by consumers in their choice of products and services.
London City Airport will launch its new sustainability strategy next year.
London City Airport has awarded TIPA Corp Ltd, an Israeli company manufacturing biodegradeable plastic packaging £10,000/$13,428 for developing a fully compostable security bag.
The awarding of the cash prize followed TIPAâs triumph in the airportâs Sustainable Security Bag Challenge.
TIPA, which has provided sustainable packaging solutions for clients including Waitrose and Stella McCartney, presented a product made from fully transparent materials, aligned to regulatory standards. The product can be composted at home by London City passengers or disposed as food waste at the airport.
An initial trial with 25,000 bags is scheduled for spring 2021 as more passengers return to the airport.
