KATHMANDU, July 29 (Xinhua) Efforts to probe the origin of COVID-19 could be hamstrung by the politicization of the issue, with a conspiracy theory about lab leaks taking precedence over a scientific conclusion, Nepali health and foreign policy experts have said recently. It is unfortunate that politics have muddled the issue of identifying the source of COVID-19, said Baburam Marasini, a former director of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Ministry of Health and Population.
In a report released by the World Health Organization (WHO) in late March after a field study in China s Wuhan, it was concluded that a lab-leak explanation of the origin of the coronavirus was extremely unlikely.

Experts explore ways of cooperation between South Asian states, MIKTA News Desk
The Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) in collaboration with the Embassy of Korea and Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security organised a seminar on the theme of ‘Middle power countries’ diplomacy on global issues’.
The objective was to explore cooperation and commonality of issues between South Asian counties and a mini-lateral group comprised of Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia, called MIKTA. Though the member states are spread in different continents, what makes them an organic entity is the need and necessity to address humanitarian, socio-ecological as well as trade and pandemic issues in a world that is more interconnected and interdependent than it ever was.
