As the devoted husband and consort to Her Majesty The Queen, the marriage of Her Majesty and His Royal Highness formed a foundation of leadership of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth for nearly eight decades. On the occasion of the Queen s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, Her Majesty referred to His Royal Highness as her constant strength and guide. His Royal Highness will be remembered fondly by British Columbians for his devotion to Queen and country, his duties as Royal Patron, and his ever-keen interest in the lives and work of Canadians. On behalf of all British Columbians, I wish to once more extend my heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty The Queen, the entire Royal Family, and all citizens of the Commonwealth, on the loss of this steadfast companion and most loyal Prince.

Manager Jeffrey Baergen said the program has been in the works for four years, but the process was speeded up when overdose deaths began rising. The program has room to grow, he said. Adult men are in the program for six months, and can then move to second- and third-stage housing. “So they can actually stay here for up to two years,” Baergen said. He said the Salvation Army believes in recovery first, rather than housing first. “Unhealthy people simply cannot sustain housing,” he said. “Until we prioritize health over housing, the cycle of homelessness will never end. “Recovery is a piece of a very complex continuum that aims to end that cycle.”

Recipient of British Columbia Medal of Good Citizenship Donna Kane. (BC GOV) VICTORIA, B.C. – Fourteen British Columbians will receive the British Columbia Medal of Good Citizenship for their community service and dedication to helping others, including Rolla resident Donna Kane. Kane is a renowned writer in the Canadian arts community. As director of the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council, she organized three 75th Aniversary Alaska Highway Arts projects in 2017.
