Mayor Of Clare Calls For Reversal On Turf & Peat Burning Ban

Clare FM Text 086 1800 964 14th March 2021 The Mayor of Clare is calling on the Minister for Transport to reverse the proposed ban on the burning of turf, peat or wood in heating homes. Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan called for the move earlier this year, prompting a backlash from some in rural communities over the move. There are are also attempts to initiate a nationwide ban on the sale and burning of smoky coal, which Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard claims is still being burnt in parts of Ennis.
