Jerry Miles, the former Fountain Hills mayor and public art benefactor, died over the weekend at age 84, according to a statement from the town.
“Jerry embraced Fountain Hills as his hometown and left no doubt about his commitment to our community,” said current Mayor Ginny Dickey. She added that his dedication to public service and supporting the arts “benefitted many over the years, and we are the better for it.”
Miles served as mayor for two years, from 1996 to 1998. He operated on a platform that supported environmental efforts and re-evaluating rapid development in the growing town.
Following his position as town mayor, Miles remained an active force within the community. He served roles in arts and education organizations, such as the Noon Kiwanis Club and the Golden Eagle Foundation.
