Asgar Asgarov is an award-winning multimedia journalist who joined VOA in 2004. He is currently the Acting Division Director of the South and Central Asia division, appointed in July 2021 from his prior position as the Acting Program Manager. Prior to his appointments in the SCA division management, Dr. Asgarov served as the chief of VOA’s Azerbaijani service. During his tenure at VOA, he has worked in numerous capacities which have included news casting, production, and program development. As the anchor of the Azerbaijani service’s prime time TV shows and radio programs, he has interviewed government officials, legislators, experts and dissidents on a vast range of subjects. 4 more die, Covid-19 related deaths reach 427 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 11, 2021 (BSS) – The coronavirus (Covid-19) infection-related death toll reached 427 as four more infected patients died during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today in the division.
Health officials said all the four new deaths were reported from Thakurgaon district alone in the division where the infection and casualty rates are rising and the recovery rate is declining in recent weeks.
“Some 117 patients died from April 10 to June 10, the highest number of deaths in two months since the outbreak of the pandemic beginning in the division,” said Focal Person of the COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui.
