After 14 years of labor, “Kate’s House” finally got the starry ceremony many who worked on the project feel it deserved.
A group of local and area officials gathered on Tuesday, May 18 as the Cohasset Housing Authority cut the ribbon at their latest development, “Kate’s House.”
In 2007, Catherine “Kate” Luna, former Managing Director of the Cohasset Housing Authority, had the idea to sell off the Trettis House and subdivide the land it sat on to create a new home for adults with disabilities.
Luna’s idea was met with resistance at first, eliciting skepticism from other members of the CHA and an outright lack of support from the Department of Housing and Community Development.
Cohasset sets warrant for Town Meeting
The warrant for Cohasset’s Annual Town Meeting has been finalized and sent to the printers.
Town officials have constructed the warrant for the better part of the last nine months, cementing the agenda earlier this month.
“Preparation for this year’s Warrant has been underway since last fall,” said Town Manager Chris Senior in a letter attached to the final copy of the warrant. “The most important meeting of the year, Town Meeting represents the opportunity for residents to set both fiscal and policy direction for Cohasset for the year ahead.”

Cohasset records largest case increase to date, 43 test positive for COVID

On Christmas Eve, the state’s weekly COVID-19 report showed Cohasset had 35 new cases in town in the previous week. At the time, it was the highest number of new cases in a week, nearly doubling the former high watermark of 18.
Since then, with the state’s latest release on Thursday, Cohasset once again set a new record in town with 43 cases over the last week.
For a town which has now spent five straight weeks in the state’s highest risk “red” category, the numbers are discouraging.
