NNPC: 52m Crude Oil Barrels Lost to OPEC Cuts

Emmanuel Addeh in Abuja Nigeria lost at least 52 million barrels of crude oil between May and December 2020 to COVID-19-induced compulsory supply cuts imposed by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), according to a data by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). While Nigeria’s crude oil production level before the curbs was two million barrels per day (bpd), recent data from NNPC indicated that while the average daily crude oil production for the entire year stood at 1.775 million bpd, total production for the whole year was 704.741 million barrels. In January, the country recorded the highest production level of 2.072 million bpd while last December, NNPC recorded its lowest production of 1.419 bpd.

Gas plant: Obaseki promises adequate security

Ex-militants allege denial of entitlements by firm

Angry former militants under the aegis of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators (NCNDEA), yesterday, alleged that Ocean Marines Solution Limited, OMSL surveillance firm, has denied them their entitlements. In a statement issued by its National President, Eshanokpe Israel (a.k.a Akpodoro) in Abuja, it explained that the decision to write security agencies followed a meeting of NCNDEA leaders in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. x The statement revealed that the group sent letters to all security agencies in the country, notifying them of its readiness to go into trenches against OMSL in Urhobo land, noting that the surveillance firm had taken the people for granted for too long.
