JACKSON, Tenn– Local bikers are coming together to help a Crockett County resident.
Teresa Holmes, a Bells native, was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer in January and is now undergoing chemotherapy.
Her fiance David Burruss and bike riders from the Golden Circle Harley Owners Group are hosting a special event in Jackson to raise funding for her medical expenses.
“It’s a poker chip run, which is basically a benefit run where a lot of riders can come in their car or their motorcycle. They go around their determined locations and draw poker chips that have a set value to them,” Burruss explained.
A teacher has caused a stir after sharing a video of her new ‘prison-like’ classroom fitted with barriers to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
South Carolina elementary teacher Teresa Holmes quite reasonably pointed out the barriers make it difficult for students to see the whiteboard from their plexiglass pens, and also wonders how she’s supposed to clean the screens between classes.
The school district responded by calling on Holmes to delete the video and not to ‘make it look like something negative.’
The plexiglass barriers have been installed at the schools in the district for $5 million, as part of an effort to safely reopen classrooms.
Back here on land, Schneider tweeted out a Saturday message for those interested.
The topic: sending kids back to school.
As noted by The Daily Wire, he shared a video of a prepped classroom.
The original caption: “This is bad: Forest brook Elementary teacher Teresa Holmes recorded a video of her classroom which has 28 desks now armed with plexiglass shields,” said the Twitter account.”
Here’s what the actor had to say:
“We are witnessing a new kind of child abuse: bought and paid for with YOUR tax dollars. The collapse of public schools who follow this example will surely follow. History will not look back at this kindly.”
