WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) â Wayne County has a plan to make getting around metro Detroit a little easier for years to come, which means youâll be seeing plenty of orange barrels this summer.
Construction season is already underway for the 2021 season with $100 million going towards the roads this year.
This will consisted of 25 road construction projects, eight bridge projects and 70 pavement improvement projects on both primary and local roads.

McMorran Boulevard east of Huron Avenue in downtown Port Huron is slated to close to traffic on Monday for the start of a roughly $1 million reconstruction of the roadway.
Public Works Director Eric Witter said passers-by may have already noticed signs of construction over the last couple of weeks amid survey and traffic control activities and as the decorative art fixtures on the boulevard were temporarily removed and put into storage.
The work includes replacing the aging, cracked, and pothole-ridden surface on McMorran between Huron and Merchant Street, as well as a water main replacement, and sanitary sewer installation.
Clinton Township to extend state of emergency amidst COVID-19 increases

CLINTON TOWNSHIP An “alarming, recent, sharp increase” in local and statewide COVID-19 cases has led Clinton Township Supervisor Bob Cannon to issue a state of emergency declaration.
Cannon planned to invoke the seven-day declaration April 6, after press time, after consulting with the township’s emergency management coordinator.
He has that jurisdiction under Section 10 of the Emergency Management Act, Section 3a(1)(b), and Section 3(2) of the Open Meetings Act the latter which states that procedures can accommodate “the absence of any member of the public body due to military duty, a medical condition, or a statewide or local state of emergency or state of disaster declared pursuant to law or charter or local ordinance by the governor or a local official, governing body, or chief administrative officer that would risk the personal health or safety of members of the publ
