Authorities still searching for gun suspect Moises Martinez used in shooting at Harris County deputies

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) The man accused of shooting a Harris County Sheriff deputy Tuesday evening appeared in probable cause court Wednesday afternoon, and the weapon he used could play a big role in the investigation, but remains unfound. Moises Martinez, 37, is accused of shooting Deputy Brandon Barragan multiple times and faces three charges, including two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant and a felon in possession of a weapon. A judge set Martinez s bail at $525,000 and deputies said they are still searching for the gun Martinez used at the scene. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez released a photo of Martinez holding it and appealing to the public for help.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) A Harris County Sheriff s Office deputy is recovering after being shot several times. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified his injured officer only as Deputy Barragan. He did not provide his first name. Moises Martinez, 37, who is accused of shooting Barragan, was detained following a four-hour manhunt in north Harris County. It all began at a gas station in the 1200 block of Forestburg Drive just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, two deputies were responding to a call for service regarding a suspicious person. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Martinez, who pulled out a weapon and began firing toward the deputies. During the incident, one of the deputies was shot in his hands and his back, but his vest protected him. A second deputy at the scene was able to fire back at Martinez but did not hit him.
