The Portland Police Bureau is warning the public about numerous potential disruptions in the city on Saturday, May 1, the traditional day of protests in the city. According to the police, multiple gatherings are planned throughout the city. Demonstrations are scheduled to begin at noon and could last until evening. At this time, there are no known plans or permits for street marches associated with any of the events, police said. According to police, events are scheduled in Holladay Park, downtown, Peninsula Park, Salmon Springs Fountain, and Shemanski Park at various times during the afternoon and evening. There also is a known march/car caravan that may impact traffic downtown in the mid- to late afternoon. There may be other locations that are impacted as well since events can be fluid in nature.
