New Tahoe Regional Trails Plan being developed, public input survey underway

The first Tahoe Regional Trails Plan is being developed to improve recreation at Tahoe by connecting and improving the network of dirt trails in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) announced today there is a public survey to aid in the development of the new plan, and the timing is perfect ahead of National Trails Day on Saturday, June 5. Residents, visitors, trail users, and non-trail users are encouraged to take the survey to help TRPA and land managers throughout the region as they begin planning. The online survey is available in English and Spanish and will be open through mid-July. Additionally, in-person surveys on trails and at trailheads are planned throughout the next month following public health protocols. Please visit www.tahoetrailsplan.org to learn more about the plan and take the survey.

Matching funds sought by Tahoe Fund for new singletrack trail at Tunnel Creek

Riders have been known to go over their handlebars due to the deep sand, and conflicts between user groups descending Tunnel Creek from the Flume Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail are increasing in frequency. To relieve the pressure and create a safer, more enjoyable experience for everyone, the Tahoe Fund is launching a matching campaign with the help of one of its donors to help close the funding gap needed to build a new singletrack trail adjacent to the road. Every dollar donated will be matched by the Spaht family until the campaign goal of $50,000 is reached.
