Pic: PA THE number of incidents that armed police were called to in West Yorkshire over the past year fell by six per cent from a year earlier, the latest figures have revealed. The data, from the Home Office, revealed that armed officers in the county were called to an average of two incidents a day between April 2020 and March 2021. The 702 incidents they responded to was down from 746 in 2019-20, a fall of six per cent. West Yorkshire Police said the drop is down to wider efforts to reduce violent crime in the country, while the Home Office acknowledged the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns have had an impact.

1/1 ARMED police swooped on a Bradford street this afternoon, with one local resident describing it as mayhem . The onlooker, who did not wish to be named, said armed officers descended on Donald Avenue, in Odsal, at around 5.30pm today. They added that the officers raided a house on the street. A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said the force was called to reports of a concern for safety at a property off Smith Avenue. Officers were deployed to the scene, but there were no injuries sustained and no arrests made. There were seven marked police cars and two unmarked vehicles at the scene, and the police helicopter was also spotted circling above, according to the resident.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - According to the Pima County Department of Transportation, Bopp Road will temporarily close at Kinney Road on Monday, April 19.
This road closure will remain in effect for more than one month and will end on Friday, May 28.
Transportation officials say the closure will allow crews to safely work on the waterline, install concrete, rip rap and place fresh asphalt in the area.
