(AP) A Nebraska prisoner already serving a life sentence for murder has been indicted on a new first-degree murder charge accusing him of killing his cellmate last year at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln. Angelo Bol, 31, was indicted this week in the November death of 20-year-old Kevin Carter, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. Authorities have not released details on how Carter was killed, saying only that staff members found him the evening of Nov. 6 unresponsive on his cell floor covered with a sheet. Carter was serving a 6-to-9-year sentence for taking part in the beating and stabbing of a man in Douglas County in 2019. It wasn t clear how Carter came to be placed in a cell with Bol, who is serving a life sentence for the 2014 shooting death a co-worker at a Gibbon meatpacking plant.

Gardiner elected officials agree to support Boys & Girls Clubs funding request By using revenue from the city s fund balance and Libby Hill TIF revenues over several years, the donation will have no impact on Gardiner s tax rate. Share GARDINER Elected officials agreed Wednesday to commit to donate $500,000 toward the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley for its new building over a period of several years. The money would come from the city’s fund balance money the city already has on hand, similar to a savings account and from revenue from the Libby Hill Tax Increment Financing district. On the recommendation of District 1 City Councilor Terry Berry, it will paid out only when fundraising reaches $9.5 million.

Chad Rosser named East Guernsey s next superintendent

Niki Wolfe Correspondent OLD WASHINGTON - The East Guernsey Local Board of Education officially hired Chad Rosser as its new superintendent at a recent meeting. His contract is for three years.  The board also authorized the payment of Rosser for the months of June and July at his contractual daily rate not to exceed 10 days for transition purposes. Along those lines, the board approved the resignation of current superintendent Adam Pittis, effective July 31. I very much appreciate my time here at East Guernsey, Pittis told the board about his six years as the district s superintendent. We re continuously growing. The board thanked Pittis for his tenure at the school district.
