A Highways England spokesperson said: “There are several different ways for people to pay the Dart Charge. These include the one-off pre-pay option, which is handy for people who don’t use the crossing on a regular basis as payment can be made up to 12 months in advance, and must be made by midnight the day after crossing. If a customer’s Dart Charge Pre-Paid account has been inactive for over 12 months, we notify them to advise of this and of the steps they need to take in order to allow it to close / obtain a refund of their credit balance or to keep it open.
