Comments St. Barnabas, already having etched themselves into New York’s GAA annals by being the first all American-born Minor Board team to win the senior championship, ensured that their season ended on a high note by also winning the New York under-21 title.  Editor s Note: This column first appeared in the December 16 edition of the Irish Voice newspaper, sister publication to IrishCentral. The pundits ranked the Bronx boys as firm favorites as they were back-boned by a cadre of senior players.  However, Rangers were also stacked with a batch of senior-experienced and skillful players, thus ensuring that this would a keen and competitive contest, and that it certainly was for most of the game. However, Barnabas always seemed to have the extra edge and stepped up a gear when the pressure came on.

Deaths in Limerick - December 16, 2020 Reporter:   ); The death has occurred of Gerard Clancy of Hennessy Avenue, Kileely, Limerick. Died suddenly at home. Late of St Munchin’s Community Centre and the Irish Army. Very deeply regretted by his loving family, sisters Mary and Betty, brothers Michael, Jackie and the late William (Luton), nephews, nieces, grand nephews and nieces, all other relatives and large circle of friends. Requiem Mass, for family and close friends, will take place on Friday (December 18) at 1pm in St. Munchin s Church, Clancy Strand. Funeral afterwards to Mt St Laurence Old Cemetery. Please follow Government guidelines with regards to public gatherings and social distancing.

Cork-based AI firm Everseen tops Deloitte Fast 50

Cumulatively, the 2020 Fast 50 listed firms recorded €3.3 billion in total annual revenues and employed over 4,600 people in 2019. 32 of the companies are Leinster-based, with 11 from Ulster and 8 from Munster. Overall, 10 counties are represented in the 2020 listing. The longstanding Deloitte Fast 50 acknowledges revenue growth over a four-year period, though not profit. Two of the top five winners from the North, fourth-placed Catagen (Antrim) and fifth-placed Foods Connected (Derry). The vast majority of the winners are software firms, with a handful of communications and life sciences companies. Overall winner Everseen also won a sub-category in the awards process, Deloitte’s ‘Innovative New Technology’ award in association with Google.
