Council Excited By Official Plan Participation

Kenora, ON, Canada / 89.5 The Lake Feb 23, 2021 4:15 PM Councillor Sharon Smith says that it is a good sign for the future of the community. “(There were) over 200 submissions to the Official Plan consultation,” says Smith, “That tells me that this community is vested in the community that they live in and want to be part of that process going forward.” Councillor Smith encourages everyone to continue being involved throughout the process. “I just want to encourage people to read the background report, read the recommendations and continue to comment on the official plan going forward because this is our opportunity to shape our community in the future.”

Ice At Local Arenas Coming Out Early

Center and the Keewatin Memorial Arena The City sent a letter to local user groups about the decision. Mayor Dan Reynard says realistically, the rinks haven’t been used before Christmas because of the lockdown. “It’s getting to the point where if you haven’t played hockey for two months…the average young person…some will miss it, some won’t,” explains Reynard. “We getting to the point where traditionally the ice comes out.  So this year it would be the first week (after) Easter.  Its always the North American First Nations Tournament that we keep the ice in for.”
