House passes school safety legislation

Last year’s school safety bill fell through at the end of Session.
The House has voted unanimously to approve this year’s measure to improve safety in Florida’s schools.
The legislation aims to strengthen mental health services in schools. In addition, the bill requires school districts and charter governing boards to assemble a plan for reunification during an emergency. School districts would need to coordinate with local governments and law enforcement agencies when formulating those reunification plans.

Derrick Chauvin murdered
George Floyd, the hammer of justice sounded loudly on all three counts he faced.
The video of Chauvin’s neck on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes was damning enough. There was more, though. Throughout the ordeal, the smug, superior expression on Chauvin’s face told volumes about the disregard he had for Floyd’s life.

This wasn’t a routine arrest over Floyd’s passing of a counterfeit $20 bill. Chauvin’s action that day was racism at its diabolical worst.
State Rep. Dan Daley writes that, yes, he had a lot of problems with the 2020 election, namely in helping his 92-year-old grandmother vote by mail. But the elections bill being debated in the Florida Legislature would make matters worse, not better.
