Are you familiar with the Tracealyzer and DevAlert tools from Percepio? How about the Luos distributed (not exactly an) operating system from Luos? I don’t know about you, but for me, the past few days have been jam-packed with my learning all sorts of exciting nuggets of knowledge and tidbits of trivia pertaining to the implementing, monitoring, and debugging of embedded systems using these little scamps.
I’m not too sure where to commence, so let’s all take a deep breath, start at the beginning, wend our way through the middle, and hopefully arrive at the end in one piece while still maintaining our sanity (and our attire).
Robust Software Design Necessary for Multithreaded Software
Visual Trace Diagnostics Can Assist in Design Verification

® CEO Dr. Johan Kraft will present a selection of best practices in multithreaded embedded software design at the upcoming Embedded Online Conference, 17–20 May. Dr. Kraft will also discuss the concept of visual trace diagnostics and demonstrate how it can be used to analyze multithreaded software design in order to improve system performance and reliability.
“Developing reliable real-time applications is easier said than done, and you benefit tremendously from a solid software design. While a multithreaded RTOS makes it easier to develop more advanced applications, multithreading brings new challenges in software design, verification and debugging – challenges that are often not apparent in the source code,” said Dr. Johan Kraft.
Percepio and Lauterbach combine to offer faster debugging Percepio and Lauterbach are collaborating to achieve faster debugging through closer integration between Percepio Tracealyzer and Lauterbachâs series of TRACE32 high-end tracing tools.
Percepio specialises in visual trace diagnostics for embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), while Lauterbach is a supplier of complete, modular and upgradeable microprocessor development tools.
The first result of this ongoing cooperation is an integration that allows Lauterbach users on Arm Cortex-M microprocessors to live stream software trace data into Percepio Tracealyzer, providing visual trace diagnostics for accelerated debugging and verification. The solution leverages the Percepio trace recorder library, supporting e.g. FreeRTOS and SAFERTOS.
