Feb 12, 2021 2:37 PM Daytona Beach, FL - With days to go until the Great American Race, employees at AdventHealth Daytona Beach get a sneak peek at the SUV that will carry the names of over 3,000 healthcare workers at the start of the 62nd Daytona 500. The truck—a new Chevy Blazer that was driven to the hospital by 2010 Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray—carries the signatures of more than 3,000 AdventHealth employees and honors the countless number of healthcare workers at the frontlines of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s so meaningful to be able to come out here and honor these workers who have spent day after day tirelessly caring for patients during this pandemic,” said McMurray, who will also drive the No. 77 AdventHealth car in Sunday s Daytona 500. Almirola wins. Preece top open car as he nips Ty Dillon at the line, which means Cindric gets into the 500. TDillon and Hill don’t qualify.
Almirola led 52 of the 60 laps in the first race, powered his way through a crowded pack of front-runners on the last lap and perfectly timed his pass of Joey Logano in Turn 4 to capture the checkered flag.
It was as perfect a race as the Florida native could ve hoped for ahead of the sport s biggest event of the year and the driver didn t even try to hide his smile as he climbed out of his car.

One aspect of the Daytona 500 is old hat to Denny Hamlin winning it.
But there’s a new aspect to this year’s race, which Hamlin is attempting to win for an unprecedented third straight time. When he takes to the track on Sunday, he’ll do so not only as a competitor, but also as a car owner.
During the offseason, Hamlin partnered with former NBA megastar Michael Jordan to form 23XI Racing the name an amalgam of Jordan’s basketball jersey number (23) and Hamlin’s No. 11 car number at Joe Gibbs Racing, expressed in Roman numerals.
