UPDATE: 1 killed in Forestport crash
An Old Forge resident was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday afternoon in Forestport, according to the Oneida County Sheriff s Office.
Kirsten Down, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene after she was attempting to turn north onto Route 28 from Woodgate Road and collided with another vehicle, deputies said.
The other vehicle was operated by Jennifer Palermo, 43, of Old Forge, deputies said.
She was headed south on Route 28 with two children in her vehicle, ages 5 and 10, officials said.
Palermo and the children were transported by ambulance to the St. Elizabeth Campus of the Mohawk Valley Health System in Utica for evaluation of minor injuries, deputies said.
