Give blood in honor of Black History Month
In honor of Black History Month this February, the Red Cross encourages eligible donors, and especially those who have recovered from COVID-19, to give blood to honor the legacies of African Americans like Dr. Charles Drew and Dr. Jerome Holland.
Blood donation appointments can be made by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS
Upcoming donation opportunities:
Feb. 16, 1 to 6 p.m., Center United Methodist Church, 11026 State Route 22
Feb. 20, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Cambridge Area YMCA Family Center, 1301 Clairmont Ave., Cambridge
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation on Friday that effectively rolls back all public health measures enacted to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
Starting Sunday, there will be no limit on the number of people attending public gatherings within the state, masks will not be required and bars can reopen. The proclamation will stay in effect until March 7 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
To be sure, Reynolds also encouraged the state s residents and businesses to take reasonable public health measures consistent with guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
