The GOP-controlled Georgia legislature passed a 98-page voter suppression bill last week that many experts have called an attack on the integrity of the state s electoral processes. The bill has been accused of specifically disenfranchising Black voters in Georgia, and some leading Democratic lawmakers have compared the legislation to the Jim Crow Era the time following the end of slavery in the United States, when legislation discriminated against Black Americans.

The passage of SB 202 was motivated by unfounded claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Although there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud, Republican lawmakers have continued to push this narrative which has cleared the way for legislation that restricts the rights of voters in the name of election integrity.
Last month, Blackburn said he was representing 11 people who allege forced drugging, kidnapping, rape, and intimidation in at least two states, including California and Georgia against the Harrises, as well as members of their inner circle. Blackburn said he has also been in contact with witnesses of the alleged abuse. New information came out in court on Friday about why the Fulton County District Attorney s Office believes it cannot move forward on two separate cases involving the Atlanta Police Department.
An attorney for Fulton County DA Fani Willis asked Magistrate Judge Todd Ashley to order the Georgia Attorney General to appoint a special prosecutor on the Brooks case and the cases involving the arrest of a Morehouse College student and Spelman College student.
FOX 5 News on Friday learned there may be a new reason for Willis voluntary recusal. It is a reason that has not yet been revealed.
