Man sentenced to prison after embezzling from Grand Rapids church

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â A Grand Rapids man who was accused of stealing more than $812,000 from his church has been sentenced to five to 15 years in prison, Kent County prosecutor Chris Becker told Fox 17 on Friday.
Christian Bileth, 56, allegedly stole the money from St. Johnâs United Church of Christ between March 2014 and the end of 2019, according to an incident report from the Grand Rapids Police Department.
It happened while he served as treasurer of the church and was in charge of its investment accounts.

Local volunteers help to ensure that safety of all blood donor clinics during the pandemic
Upcoming blood donor clinics include: May 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. John’s United Church in Campbellford and June 6 at Brighton Fellowship Christian Reformed Church.
Territory Manager Jennifer Mathieu says Northumberland volunteers/donors continue to show their support for blood donation, with appointments in Cobourg completely booked until June.
BOCES sponsors COVID-19 vaccine pop-up clinic
Erie 2 Board of Cooperative Educational Services will be sponsoring a COVID-19 vaccine pop-up clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at 21 E. Second St. in Dunkirk.
To reserve a time slot, residents are asked to call 949-8450 or email ksnyder@e2ccb.org to register before Thursday. The clinic is being administered by The Chautauqua Center and Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES.
This is first dose Moderna clinic for anyone 18 and older. The BOCES literacy program will be on site with registration, provide translators for Spanish-speaking residents, offer light refreshments while registering and waiting after the vaccine.
