To mask or not to mask?
Turns out itâs your choice. The countyâs mask mandate was rescinded a month ago, and businesses are adapting in different ways. No matter what their signage is in front of the store, however, customers can choose their own adventure regarding face coverings.
âWe care about the health of our employees and customers,â said Courtney Halls, manager at the Jackson Mercantile. âBut we also value their choice, so we just have been trying to achieve a balance of that.â
Most places ditched the masks once the order expired; others left signs about face coverings up but left the decision to customers.
County commissioners intend to fully fund budget requests from Teton County nonprofits that provide senior care, shelter for teens in crisis and subsidized mental health care, among other services.
âI think thatâs great,â said Deidre Ashley, executive director of the Jackson Hole Community Counseling Center, one of the nonprofits set to receive its full request for the upcoming fiscal year.
Ashley serves on the Wyoming Association of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Centers, a state association with directors from other Wyoming community mental health centers like the Community Counseling Center. She said that Jackson and Teton County âby far are the most supportiveâ local governments in the Equality State.
Outdoor classroom
After months of planning, the Jackson Hole Childrenâs Museum has broken ground on its new outdoor classroom.
Museum Executive Director Ethan Lobdell said the over 700-square-foot addition is necessary to accommodate ever-increasing demand for the nonprofitâs summer programs. There are over 75 families on the waitlist for 2021 Summer Camps, museum press material states.
The project was funded by Lynn and Foster Friess and will include a new custom-built tool shed from GrowHuts of Victor, Idaho.
âOur new outdoor classroom is critical to serving Teton County families through Summer Camps, Afterschool, and STEAM workshops â programming that is essential to our community,â Lobdell said.
