Independent Presbyterian elects new pastor

The Rev. Kevin J. Long will serve as the new pastor of Independent Presbyterian Church beginning Aug. 1, 2021.

The Rev. Kevin J. Long was unanimously approved in a vote on Sunday, May 2.
The 1,800-member Independent Presbyterian Church, a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) denomination, is located at 3100 Highland Avenue in the Highland Park neighborhood of Birmingham.
After the vote, Long and his family were introduced to the congregation.
Long will begin his role as IPC pastor and head of staff on Aug. 1.
He previously served the past 10 years as pastor of Sewickley Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania.
