On Sunday in College Park, Md., Jake, Jesse and Jared Bernhardt will all be wearing the same dented ring.
It’s engraved with “JB” for their dad Jimmy Bernhardt. The dents and the divots, the engraving, it’s there, two more copies molded for Jesse and Jared from dad’s original ring that Jake now wears. It’s a reminder of their late father and a Christmas gift from their mom, Catherine.
“I know their dad’s looking down on them from a different place. The boys all know he’s there,” Catherine says. “They all have his ring that he wore. They know that their dad is always with them.”

As we await more teams taking the field for the first time, two new teams join the Nike / US Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25. This week, it’s Loyola Blakefield (Md.) and Ponte Vedra (Fla.) entering the fray.
The Cubs opened with a 14-5 win over Westlake last week, entering the ranking at No. 21 as a result. Owen Gaffney led the offense with six goals, while Matt Gottfried was dominant in the faceoff circle to help Loyola gain a possession advantage.
Ponte Vedra joins at No. 25 on the heels of a 13-0 start following a 19-2 win over Menendez (Fla.) on March 30 and a 15-6 victory over Episcopal School of Jacksonville (Fla.) last Thursday.
