Lárionad Acmhainní Nádúrtha CTR, an Údarás na Gaeltachta client based in An Fál Carrach is to participate in cutting edge research based on new farming methods. The E-Crop project will work towards developing innovative farming technologies and tools for farmers and the agriculture sector to improve and monitor crop health. Using cutting edge genomic and biological research and appropriate testing in An Fál Carrach it is hoped to develop innovative methods and tools that will provide further protections to seeds from various diseases hence promoting crop health. The project is being run in partnership with University College, Dublin, e-Seed Crop Technology Solutions Ltd, SeqBiome Ltd; and Origin Enterprises Public Ltd Company.

Disruptive projects to get €95m under Govt tech fund

The selected projects will receive a total of €95m over the next three years. These include technologies that aim to improve outcomes for cancer patients, projects that use drones to detect drug smuggling and projects that use artificial intelligence to make factories safer. So far, €235m has been allocated out of the total fund of €500m. Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar said his department is funding projects which will have wide-ranging benefits across many areas of society. There are many successful projects in the health sector, which we hope will result in better patient outcomes for thousands suffering from cancer, heart disease and fractured bones among other conditions.
